News | Thank you to everyone who visited our motel, marina and tackle shop this year. We are now closed for the season. But, we would be happy to take orders for any tackle which can be mailed to you and we are monitoring our phone and email for 2012 reservations or for any other questions you might have.
Although we are closed, if you can make a day trip to Orleans County, you won’t be disappointed. Brown trout fishing on all of the tributaries is the best that it has been for the past several years. Water flows are at the moderate to slightly low level and the water clarity is slightly stained. With the warmer than normal weather, hunting season and Thanksgiving this past week, pressure has been on the low side which means those that were here had a great time with much less fishing pressure.
Later this week the weather is predicted to turn colder which should trigger the Steelhead/Rainbow trout migration to their spawning beds at a much higher rate than is presently occurring.
Most of the work has been completed at the Waterport power generating facility with just clean-up work going on.
It's surprising that there are still some fresh Chinook and Coho salmon in our tributaries this late in the season to be enjoyed. Bluegills are still being taken in fairly good numbers at the Kenyonville Bridge on Lake Alice. Perch fishing on the Oak is still spotty for most but a few people seem to have the pattern dialed in and are doing well.
